Becoming a world-beating company in the highly competitive property industry is no ordinary feat. Achieving this level of success takes a vast amount of talent and expertise not to mention an iron will to excel above all others. That’s exactly what Aberconia Ltd the company behind the prestigious Portico development on Prospect beach, St James has done as the ultimate winners of this year’s International Property Awards in association with CNBC Arabia in California USA on Thursday November 12^th 2009.

Portico won the Best International Apartment award at a prestigious gala dinner held at the US Grant Hotel in San Diego. Only the top scoring winners from no less than 105 countries were nominated to represent the finest property companies from across the U.K, Europe, Africa, Americas, Arabia and Asia Pacific.

Entrants are initially judged at country or regional level. Altogether there are 36 different categories and two of the most outstanding entries in each category are given a four star award, whilst the best overall entry is given a unique five star. Portico won the five star award for “Best Apartment in the Caribbean” and “Best Development on the Caribbean”. Every five star winner’s entry is then re-examined to determine which companies go forward to be re-judged for the ultimate World’s Best Award. This symbol of worldwide excellence is already recognised and appreciated by an increasingly well informed and discerning public.

Entries were judged by a panel of 52 international independent professionals whose collective knowledge of the property industry is unsurpassed by any other property awards. The International Property Awards are also supported by 12 professional bodies such as the National House Builder’s council and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the National Association of Realtors and many of these are represented on the judging panel.

Mr Chris Salt C.E.O and Chairman of Aberconia Ltd said of achieving this award:-

“I am both humbled and extraordinarily proud. To have won the regional Caribbean awards was fantastic. To then go on and win the award for best apartment in the Americas was unbelievable. But to win the best apartment in the world award simply surpassed all expectations. I personally saw a couple of the other finalist’s entries before the event and knew that the standard of entries this year was extremely high, particularly from a development in South Africa and another in India.”

“This award is testament to the excellent multi-disciplinary team which we have put together on this project who I would like to publicly thank for their diligence and meticulous efforts throughout. Many of these individuals have inspired me personally especially during the difficult times when we have had to re-group at short notice and put on our thinking caps to deal with specific and urgent unforeseen demands at all times of the day and night.”
